Not a musical definition

I had friends who were really into musicals, they were annoying. They weren't annoying because they were into musical (and bad musicals at that) they were annoying because they insisted on singing songs from these bad musicals...all the time. One such song was from some Charlie Brown musical, I think it was sung by Lucy (who is Charlie's sister if memory serves), I think the song is called "My Philosophy". It consisted of an annoying refrain that claimed any personal viewpoint, preference, or predilection to be one's philosophy. Or so I remember. This is most certainly not philosophy. Most know that philosophy means "the love of wisdom", many know the origin of the term involving a comment from Pythagoras–I don't think any of that matters. Philosophy is the discipline of the disciplines. In the words of Pat Flynn, philosophy keeps the books on itself and on everybody else. If we didn't have philosophy we wouldn't have the sciences, the arts, or logic. I think it is the most important academic discipline one can study and devote time to. If you are interested in anything, you should be interested in philosophy. Okay, that's good enough for an introduction, at least for now.

Always ask the question. The question is this: "But is it true?"
